TECH
TIPS
It is recommended that no additional software or programs be installed
or loaded onto any Telescan linked computers with or without Internet
access. For computers with Internet access, make sure that there is an
active Anti-Virus program running the most current version.
SOFTWARE
UPDATE
The software release R1-04D now allows for StationgeneratedReminders to
be saved or ‘Filed’ to an accounts delivered message list
upon filing by an operator. Filed or saved Station Reminders will not
be transmitted if using any Message transmit (Transmit All feature on
the AMR) options during scheduled message transmissions.
SCENARIO
“We use a lot of on-screen hypertext commands to allow operators to navigate
screens and take messages more efficiently. I’d like to reduce the number
of keystrokes being performed by operators, but I do not want to encourage the
use of the mouse, as some of my operators aren’t comfortable using the
mouse. How can I save operator keystrokes when processing calls and taking messages
and still use the hypertext commands?”
SOLUTION
Usually, to activate the Navigator prompt (the thin white outline that
surrounds the Information Screen allowing hypertext commands to be
selected) the operator must press the [Shift]+[Select] keys, then
use the arrow [up,down, left, right] keys to navigate
to the appropriate command for selection.
Utilizing
the Auto-Select hypertext command,
when the left and right brace, { }, are placed
on an Information Screen with no intervening
characters, will eliminate the need to press
the [Shift]+[Select] keys to activate the Navigator
prompt. When the screen is displayed or navigated
to via a hypertext command or when an account
is answered, the console will automatically
enter the [Shift-Select] mode and highlight
the first qualifying hypertext command. This
saves the operator from pressing the [SHIFT]+[SELECT]
keystroke or a left-click of the mouse. The
operator can immediately use the arrow [up,down,
left, right] keys or the mouse to
move to the desired command. These characters
are not visible to the operator.
NOTE: This
feature will not currently work with dial-able
commands or speed-dial numbers.
