STICKY
KEYS
In the past few weeks we have seen occurrences of an accidental enabling
of a feature that could cause problems with Windows XP WebConsoles.
For example, an operator presses the letter ‘E’ and the WebConsoles
program minimizes, or an operator presses the letter ‘P’ and
the phrase ‘Please call’ appears although the mnemonics/cap
locks settings are correct.
The feature is
called Sticky Keys and it comes
as one of the accessibility options to assist
the handicapped or others that may need help
with working the keyboard. This feature has the
ability to turn on and hold your caps lock, shift,
control, alt, and Windows keys.
SOLUTION
Telescan recommends you disable the feature if you are not currently
using it. You can disable the feature by clicking on the “Start
Menu” and scrolling to the “Control
Panel”. Select the “Accessibility Options” icon
and you will be presented with a window and 3 different keyboard
aids. Be sure that none of these features have a check in the box
next to them. Click “Settings” next
to each one of these and be sure the box labeled “Use
Shortcut” is un-checked. This will
disable the accidental activation of the features and possibly save
you hours of frustration.
