Changes to Functionality in Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2

As you may be aware, Microsoft is nearing release of their next service pack for their popular Windows XP operating system. The release of this new service pack introduces several changes to how Windows XP operates and enforces security.

The list of changes is far too lengthy to detail here, but the major changes that Microsoft has incorporated into the new Service Pack 2 (SP2) follow:

  • Network Protection Technologies
  • Memory Protection Technologies
  • E-mail Handling Technologies
  • Enhanced Browsing Security
  • Computer Maintenance
  • Other Technologies

Telescan is in the process of testing all of its proprietary software for compatibility with SP2 in order to continue to support our valued clients as effectively as possible. However, until that testing is completed we cannot guarantee the compatibility of our software with SP2. We encourage you to delay updating the operating system(s) of your computer(s) until this testing has been completed. If you deem it necessary to perform such updates prior to completion of our testing we ask that such updates be performed by a qualified computer technician. We cannot support this update until our internal testing is completed.

If you have any technical questions please call one of our technical staff at Telescan. If you would like detailed information on Windows XP Service Pack 2 please visit this website: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/winxppro/maintain/sp2chngs.mspx

Your patience and cooperation are greatly appreciated. We anticipate that Microsoft will release the new service pack by September 1. You will be informed once the SP2 has been tested and certified for compatibility.
